It seems a common issue facing communities across the commonwealth is balancing our budgets to have the least impact on taxpayers, yet provide the best possible education for students. We need to ensure that school administrators are being fiscally responsible in their monetary planning/spending and as a school board member my primary goal is to collaborate with all stakeholders for budget plans that provide a balance of district spending and taxes for residence/businesses.

Education Dual Bachelor's degree in Marketing & Management. Masters degree in Elementary Education Certified Teacher K-6
Current Occupation Teacher, Realtor, Business Owner
Qualifications for Office Background in business management, communication, and education, current board member and have served as Board Treasurer for 2 years. I know the issues facing our district. I am active with PSBA. I have completed 56 PSBA courses since 2018 and have earned 8 PSBA badges and earned the PSBA Certificate in Board Governance.
It is difficult to pick just one issue. The biggest issue I see facing our district is student academic regression caused by the forced closing of our schools to operate remotely during COVID last spring and the hybrid/remote schedule students faced since September. My recommendation for addressing this academic regression is for the District Administration to work with the Curriculum department and ensure our students are being given adequate avenues to work with our teachers and staff to bring students up to where they should be in their academics.

Qualifications for Office 15+ YEARS OF SCHOOL DISTRICT EXPERIENCE SCHOOL FINANCES, HR, CAFETERIA CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS SERVICE CONTRACTS
Issues: 1. Financial burden of the outside charter/cyber enrollment and their tuition costs. 2. In-house cyber enrollment sky rocketed during the pandemic 3. Current PV in-house vendor unable to handle the extra enrollments and lack of computer equipment and non-availability of new equipment due to the pandemic. Created a delay in education for all students. 4. All these added expenses created a large financial hardship on the entire district Solution: 1. Continue to demand charter/cyber funding reform in Harrisburg. This is a large task and has been going on for years to no avail. 2. Re-negotiate with VPN on the contract details. If that is not possible, then go out for new quotes from various other vendors who can provide our needs. The end goal is to give PV students the best quality education possible within our budgetary means.

Qualifications for Office Yozwiak is a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Gilbert, and is currently President of the Pleasant Valley Board of Education. She serves on the MCTI Joint Operating Committee, the PV Policy Committee, the PV Education Committee, the PV Support and Professional Staff Negotiating Committees, PV Athletic Committee and PV Finance Committee. Yozwiak has been a resident of the Pleasant Valley School District since 1977. With her husband, Larry, they have raised three children who are each Pleasant Valley graduates: Dr. Nathan Yozwiak, Boston, MA; Andrea Yozwiak, Saylorsburg; and Ali Yozwiak Chupa, Bangor, PA.
Yozwiak’s plan is to address the key issues facing the district today: to keep taxes low by advocating that legislators approve fair funding formulas, by negotiating fair and responsible employee contracts, by promoting academic excellence with increased credit requirements for graduation, by enhancing career/technical and continued innovations and funding and by requiring that hiring of personnel rests on experience and not local bloodlines.

Current Occupation Senior Director of Quality Operations for multi-national pharmaceutical packaging company
Qualifications for Office I am a lifetime learner with 20 years of experience in large global pharmaceutical companies with 15 years of experience building and leading operational and quality teams and managing multi-million dollar operational budgets. In addition to manufacturing and leadership experience, I am trained in Six Sigma Green Belt methodologies focused on process improvements and elimination of waste.
I think one of the largest challenges we face as a school district, like many other districts, is trying to improve the overall quality of education while maintaining fiscal responsibility. This is a large task that is never really complete. Having a diverse group of board members provides the benefit of different perspectives and offers a good opportunity to develop creative solutions. I think that benchmarking against similar schools, that are performing at the desired level, is an opportunity for us to learn and drive improvements in the school district.
