District Court's are truly "The People's Court" and should be presided over by judges with two main qualities: professional experience as well as life experience. These experiences must then be utilized to provide fair and equal justice based on the law - regardless of personal or political opinion. I am the only candidate with the professional experience in the law (nearly 30 years in law enforcement) and personal experience (60 year township resident, husband, parent, homeowner; longtime community volunteer) that provide me with the ability to address cases that will come before the bench, and the understanding of our community to render just decisions. Because of my experience, I would be able to make firm and just decisions that would hold people accountable but at the same time not ruin a person's life over them making a mistake. Finally, I am enrolled for the state's District Judge accreditation course and will be ready to serve on day one.
I would recuse myself if I would be unable to provide a just and unbiased decision. An example of that would be if a family member, or close friend came before the court. Or if a conflict of interest would present itself. A judge must provide fair and equal justice based on the law, regardless of personal or political views.
