Qualifications for office Brooke Burchette-Williams believes education and service are essential conduits for human development. Her experience in advocacy, driving the mission of local nonprofits, and bridging governmental services with communities, positions her to be an impactful Borough Councilwoman.
First priority, diversify revenue generated for the operational cost of Churchill Borough. Currently, the main source of revenue generated is collected from residential property taxes. It is imperative to expand the income sources to curtail an additional increase on residential property taxes. Secondly, revitalize the commercial district while maintaining the fabric of the community. Lastly, address infrastructure concerns such as the stormwater and sewer systems.
To date, there are 130 municipalities in Allegheny County. Our interaction with Allegheny County Council should involve strategically expanding the work of the Turtle Creek Valley Council of Governments to consolidate our governing bodies without the elimination of administrative and public safety jobs.
I propose identifying federal grant opportunities aimed at improving our deteriorating infrastructure. Additionally, I propose working with surrounding communities to leverage our strengths to address our water, sewer, and stormwater systems. I propose a uniform system for every household to harvest rainwater to decrease the overflow of storm water runoff into our waterways and sewer systems. This effort would decrease the pollution of our waterways while decreasing the consumption of main water use for the purposes of such things as lawn care, agriculture, and car washing. I would propose developing a green infrastructure plan aimed at improving air quality. Lastly, I would propose sound barriers along the 376 East Interstate.
