Qualifications -Two-term Elected ANC Commissioner, Shepherd Park -Community Organizer -Consultant to Small Business Start-ups
The Shepherd Park Community is a unique neighborhood with wonderful diverse residents. While many of the residents are middle class and older, the demographic is changing as younger families are relocating to the neighborhood.

The most important issue facing the ANC Single Member District is a need for quality affordable housing as housing cost are increasing. Additionally, the Upper Georgia Avenue NW corridor needs more quality businesses, such as fine dining restaurants, grocery stores and other professional services. The corridor needs less bars, liquor stores and take-out only establishments.

I will continue to work with the newly created Upper Georgia Avenue Main Street (UGAMS), the Shepherd Park Citizens Association (SPCA) to attract new businesses while working with current businesses to improve the quality of services offered while mitigating issues that may disrupt quality of life issues in the community.
Because ANC Commissioners consider a wide range of policies and programs affecting respective neighborhoods, including traffic, parking, recreation, street improvements, liquor licenses, zoning, economic development, police protection, sanitation and trash collection, and the District's annual budget, I will continue to utilize various modes of communication such as the neighborhood listserv, quarterly newsletters, submit pressers and articles to the neighborhood organization’s news publication and finally, visiting neighbors and business stakeholders to make formal introductions, listening to concerns and soliciting feedback.
What do you think about the movement to change the names of monuments, streets, buildings and other entities with racist or slava connotations. My answer: To change such names would be to bury or eradicate a shameful history that African Americans did not create. While blacks were an unwilling participant in the institution of slavery, our ancestors inheritely are part of its history. Further, as that history disappears, it will also be forgotten. While I agree the images and names associated with racism and slavery should not be venerated, I hope this movement is not masking a hidden agenda. Think about the Shepherd Park Neighborhood and for whom it is named.
