We remain fortunate to have “good” problems caused by our own success. Families and businesses continue to come to Williamson County and we need to coordinate with our municipalities to grow responsibly. This starts with updating our urban growth boundaries and working with our incorporated areas towards a shared vision of sustainable growth that preserves our quality of life.
When I first decided to run in 2018, several county officials commented to me that the biggest part of serving on the county commission is communicating and educating the public on the issues and concerns for the county. In addition to our regular and committee meetings, I try to maintain an active presence throughout the district and am happy to answer questions and help explain my positions. My phone and email are always open to constituents and their concerns.
Supporting our teachers. We are facing a shortage of teachers in our schools. Williamson County is not alone facing this challenge and we will have to be innovative in enticing and keeping good teachers.
While every department serves a vital purpose in assisting our residents and making Williamson County a great place to live and work, I’ll take a moment to praise our parks and recreation department. When citizens talk about quality of life issues, parks and recreation play a huge role in residents’ satisfaction. Though the hard work of that department and private citizens seeing the value of these open spaces, we’ve been able to add parks and recreational spaces for our residents. If you haven’t had a chance to experience our county’s parks, I encourage you to do so. They are a fantastic resource for all of us to use and share.
