I have always been an active community advocate, serving on a number of committees and community organizations. After serving on the Kane County Board, I was elected to the State Senate in 2006. As a small business owner for more than 20 years, I know how to manage a budget. In Springfield, I am tasked with voting on the State’s budget annually. Attention to detail and organization are traits needed to successfully navigate the job of a legislator. We vote on a myriad of topics from healthcare, pensions, education, energy, and agriculture. It is necessary to learn about the topic in order to make a well informed vote. My ability to work with people from different backgrounds has propelled me into a leadership position in the Senate.
Much like everyone, my constituents are facing increased prices for everyday goods and services. I believe that providing relief in different ways can help offset these costs. One thing that I would like to see, is bringing manufacturing back to Illinois, as well as increasing opportunities and pathways to apprenticeship programs and trades schools. I am also committed to lowering property taxes and will work hard to find sustainable solutions.
I have passed many pieces of legislation during my time in office. One area that I have focused on is animal welfare. I have worked closely with animal organizations like the Humane Society and Best Friends. I think one of the most important things I do as a legislator is to meet with my constituents. At this moment I may not know the next piece of legislation I will carry that will positively impact Illinois citizens, because it will come from a constituent who has an issue and reaches out to me.

Crime and violence is a major factor facing all communities in Illinois right now, I will fight to support law enforcement and pass legislation that continues to keep Illinois safe.
Crime and violence is a major factor facing all communities in Illinois right now, I will fight to support law enforcement and pass legislation that continues to keep Illinois safe. -------------- Inflation is hurting a lot of Illinoisans at this moment, I will do everything I can to pass legislation that will ease the burden of inflation to Illinois residents by reviewing the current tax laws that take more disposable income from the tax payers. -------------- Partisan politics is stopping the ability of legislators to negotiate and compromise effectively. I will Unite Illinois and work with both sides of the political aisle to develop and pass the most effective and efficient laws, that will allow our citizens to thrive in business and lifestyle in Illinois.
