Public service is my career calling. I have served as: precinct committeperson; Joliet City Councilman '95-2011; and Will County Treasurer since 2018. Formal education includes B.A Illinois Weslyan University; and M.B.A. University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Practical education includes 26 years local banking experience and 22 years as a licensed Illinois Real Estate Broker.
Except for income taxes, a homeowner's real estate tax is the largest tax they will pay. Preparing to do so is a new challenge for some, and a perennial challenge for others. I and my professional staff provide full-time service to each of the 270,000 parcel owners by handling thousands of phone inquiries and email messages. We also serve our commercial, legal and business professionals involved in the real estate industry.
Continued constituent access and education is a daily charge in my office. We employ the latest in technological tools while offering in-person consultation. The significant volume of tax bills requires an expertly integrated combination of data management, information technology, and professional handling. We strive to make each and every constituent contact a pleasant experience resulting in better understanding of the tax bill and requirements.

I am a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and financial expert, decorated United States Navy veteran, and community leader who will be a fiscal watchdog for Will County taxpayers. For 17 years, I have dedicated my career to improving the fiscal stability of families, organizations, and major corporations, which includes work in auditing, accounting, and financial solutions. To further help individuals and local businesses with specific accounting and tax services, I founded CYNOVA CPAs & Advisors in Plainfield. Before I entered the finance industry, I served our country in the United States Navy for nearly 10 years, where I was deployed multiple times around the world and ended my service as a decorated senior leader, earning multiple medals and commendations. To combine my passion for service and finances, I serve as the Finance Officer for the Plainfield American Legion and am a member of the Plainfield Moose Lodge, Plainfield Chamber of Commerce and Plainfield Lions Club.
Our biggest challenge is the amount of wasteful spending happening—there is no protection of taxpayers’ money. Families are already paying too much in taxes. Our taxes are too high, giving people less money to spend on groceries, gas, activities, even their children. The last thing taxpayers should have to endure is their money being handled improperly and potentially being wasted. I will analyze and scrutinize the county’s spending, ensuring we are staying within budget and no money is being wasted. I will work to make our county government more efficient. I will also push for the consolidation of the county’s treasurer and auditor offices. This reduces costs for taxpayers, increases transparency, and makes it easier to protect taxpayer funds. This consolidation would result in the elimination of either the auditor or treasurer’s position, and if that means I have to lose my job, then so be it—it’s the right thing for the taxpayers.
As treasurer, I will protect taxpayers’ money and eliminate wasteful spending, and it will also be my goal to increase transparency. Taxpayers have the right to know where their money is being spent. Yet in Will County, it’s extremely difficult to find how your money is being spent, and when you find the right reports, they’re so complicated even financial professionals like me have trouble understanding them. True transparency means when the average citizens wants to find information, they can find it easily and it makes common sense. That’s the level at which we should be providing information to the public on where their money is going and what they’re getting out of it.
