My top three priorities are education, autonomy, and equity. I believe that we must fully fund education in this state so that the communities are not required to ask voters for levy or referendum money so often. I also believe that medical decisions are personal and private, and body autonomy is a freedom we must protect. Regarding equity, I believe that marginalized citizens and protected groups must remain protected and lifted up.
Safe and secure elections are vital to a healthy democracy. I will never support any laws that restrict certain groups of people from voting and I will speak out against practices that tend to deter or hinder specific demographics from voting.
I would support legislation for fair rental and lending practices. I would support the legislation currently in effect to support Farmers of color and help them purchase land. There are many other pieces of legislation I could name from medical treatment to childcare benefits, so I am eager to dig in and ensure the success of all Minnesota families.
Inflation rising is one issue that many voters are concerned about right now. First, we must prevent OVERinflation from price gouging from those businesses and corporations who are still making record profits, even when regular people are scraping by. We must have proper oversight so this does not happen. Inflation itself will ebb and flow and the feds have more impact on it in general than the state, but the state can also do its part to support those most in need.
I want to require registration of all firearms on the community level - with that information sent to a state database. I want to make sure that the guns sold at fairs, flea markets, or privately also require background checks as well as those given as gifts or inherited. I think we also need to invest in mental health to help prevent gun violence in the first place. Also, people who have enough resources are less likely to commit crimes, so we must support those who need it most.
