Accessible, affordable Pre-K through post-secondary education with class sizes conducive to learning; affordable comprehensive healthcare including mental/emotional/chemical/reproductive healthcare; addressing climate change and the environment through a transition to renewable clean energy. Education and training options allow all citizens to be productive, contributing, self-supporting members of our community to the fullest degree possible. Comprehensive health care allows citizens who are not at their best to return to health and productivity. Climate change is important because we need a healthy, sustainable planet where people can provide for their needs. There are so many other important issues beyond these.
We already have safe and secure elections with broad participation in Minnesota, and I would fight against any efforts that reduce participation of eligible voters. We must maintain paper ballots so that we have auditable records. We have had two statewide recounts in recent memory and found almost no fraud or ineligible votes cast.
Education must include comprehensive study of our history, including mistakes made and the impact of those mistakes. This may help keep students from various backgrounds engaged in their education. I support evidence-based proposals to reduce the achievement gap and create equity. We must fund anti-discrimination efforts to hold those who harm others with their bias accountable. I also support subsidies for advanced education for low-income students to give those willing to work hard access.
I support business incubators, with space and mentors for those who have ideas and are willing to work hard to realize their fulfillment, especially in communities with limited access. I also support a program that includes grants and small business loans at very low interest to help those budding entrepreneurs get started.
Background checks for all gun purchases, red flag laws, all guns to be registered, ban assault weapons and high capacity magazines and bump stocks, loss of right to weapons for those found guilty of violent crime or under a civil protection order.
