My immediate priority will be to secure funding for clean, safe water for all of the residents of my district. In Ramsey, we need a water treatment plant because of high levels of manganese. In Andover, we need to hook up the Red Oaks neighborhood to municipal water because of dioxane 1,4 detected in their private well water. My long term goals are to bring down the costs of higher education and health care. Too many of our families are weighed down by student loan debt and medical debt. We need to do better.
I support our current laws ensuring same day registration and access to early voting. Democracy works best when every eligible voter is able to exercise their right to vote and those votes are counted accurately and securely.
The Minnesota state constitution guarantees that all children will be provided with an education that allows them to contribute to our society. We need to make sure that our schools are well-resourced, staffed with inspiring teachers, and that student's needs are met. Every child, no matter their zip code, deserves access to excellent schools, and we must make higher education affordable so that all of our children can be prepared for the jobs of the future.
We need to make sure that all areas of the state have access to broadband internet services so that our businesses can function in the modern economy. I also support affordable higher education and reducing the costs of health care so that our workers are ready and able to take on the jobs of the future.
My husband and son both have Minnesota carry permits. We own guns. I do not support taking guns away from law-abiding gun owners. I do support thorough background checks for gun purchases and Extreme Risk Protective Orders, also known as red flag laws to keep guns out of the hands of those who threaten to harm themselves or others.
