Improving public safety, defending reproductive freedom and choice, promoting our business community, protecting the environment, defending and promoting our educational system, improving our transportation system. All of these policy areas are of critical importance.
Our elections have been and remain safe and secure. There is no evidence of any wide-spread election fraud. That said, we need to remain vigilant to keep our elections free from nefarious influences and interference. At the same time, we need to promote ballot access that allows our voters to exercise their right to vote fairly and freely.
I would look to better understand the nature of the disparities and what solutions would be feasible and appropriate. Unfortunately, this problem is long standing and requires a thoughtful and comprehensive approach. I was a strong proponent to create and fund a diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) manager position for the City of Plymouth.
On the Plymouth City Council I have been a strong and active promoter of our business community. It is a key and necessary part of having a healthy and vibrant community. I have supported various efforts by the City to protect and promote our local businesses, especially during the pandemic. I will look to do the same at the Legislature.
I believe strongly that some common sense measures are needed to stem the propensity for more and more gun violence. While the U.S. Supreme Court has interpreted the Second Amendment to apply to the individual, it should not prohibit reasonable time, place, and manner regulation of firearms, such as red flag laws, to promote public safety while respecting Second Amendment. I could support such legislation.
