I grew up with the Minnesota values of caring for our neighbors, protecting our environment, and giving back to our community. I chose to raise my kids here so they could have the same opportunities I did. I am running for State House to build on those opportunities so that every family has access to good jobs, good schools and good health care.
This is not the same Minnesota I grew up in. Where we were neighbors and a community first and politics came later. I do believe that our democracy has come under attack. We need to protect our constitutional rights and the right to vote is paramount. In Minnesota, we have high voter turnout, we value our right to vote, and our elections are secure. But we can always continue to improve our voting system and I will support efforts to keep our elections safe, secure, and without undue barriers.
Building a foundation of freedom and fairness starts at the very beginning with our kids. Research shows when families have access to high quality early childhood education programs we build a community with more educational attainment, higher wages, and less crime for generations to come. I will work to bring high quality early childhood education to all Minnesotans.
To support a vibrant economy I will focus on three things: healthy, safe, well-educated children; safe and thriving communities with opportunity; and businesses growth to help support the financial stability of our community. Inflation is high from food to fuel and we need to focus on those it hurts the most, the poor and those on fixed incomes.
I believe in our traditions, our ability to hunt and to defend ourselves. I grew up in a community of hunters, but there is a common ground where we can send our kids to school safely. I was in high school when the Columbine massacre happened and mass shootings have not stopped since. What we have been doing is not working. We must ensure that violent offenders face penalties that are a true deterrent and that our criminal justice system has sufficient resources to make cases stick.
