As a teacher in our public schools and as a parent with young children, I've seen first hand the struggles our community has faced over the past two years. I’ve seen that public policy has a real effect on our schools, our families, and our finances. And I know that when politicians play political games at the capitol, it hurts real families here at home.

Everyone deserves access to high quality public schools, affordable healthcare and prescription medication, and to live in a safe and healthy community. I will fight to bring these values to the capitol.
The right to vote is sacred and fundamental to a healthy democracy. I support early voting and the option to vote by mail to allow people with mobility or health issues to participate in our democracy.
One of the biggest contributors to our opportunity gap in Minnesota is the way we fund public schools. I support funding schools at the state and federal level, instead of depending on local tax levies. We also need to ensure that jobs pay a living wage and that everyone has access to affordable housing and medical care.
I don’t think that a billionaire should be paying fewer taxes than I am paying as a teacher. I support closing tax loopholes to make sure the wealthiest Minnesotans and the largest corporations are paying their fair share, which would relive the tax burdon on the middle class. Additionally, I support ending the tax on social security for seniors. I also support legislation that prohibits price gouging.
I support the following gun violence prevention legislation, which are all backed by research:

Background checks on all gun sales, which would close the gun show and private sales loophole

Raise the minimum age to buy a long gun to 21

Red flag/Emergency protective orders so law enforcement and family can intervene when a person is in crisis

Safe storage laws to keep children and teens from accessing firearms

Reinstating the assault weapons ban, which expired in 2004
