I have experience with the multiple agencies and projects that the SWCD is involved with and would like to help any project that furthers forest health, community safety, and clean watersheds.
1. More resources for forest health and community safety. 2. Increase forest workers by employing, foresters and conservation corps type crews to help with public or private forest concerns. 3. Helping with the established conservation emphasis and specific projects.
Any government office that can help provide for clean air, water, or soil is important to its' constituents.
First, talk about climate change. District 2 in Lake county experienced the Greenwood fire last summer. This fire was exacerbated by the extra heat and dryness of a "global warming" summer. Resources need to be devoted to both forest health and community safety both here and regionally for two reasons; climate, and an increase in the wildland/ urban interface where many types of property losses are incurred when wildfires burn too hot or too often.
