I think my priorities of protecting our neighborhoods while preparing for the future and preserving our past are in line with what most voters in Anoka want. As a commercial banker I am uniquely qualified to drive development in Anoka. I spend a great deal of time talking to voters in every neighborhood and it's amazing how often the same themes resonate. They tell me they want to make sure our neighborhoods stay safe. They want to see new, beautiful and modern developments in our city that attract residents and businesses while preserving our historic uniqueness and our amazing natural resources. If elected I will look for ways to bring new housing and retail spaces to our city while enhancing access to our rivers and parks.
Public Safety is first and foremost. Our city relies heavily on a strong, well funded, and appreciated police force. If elected I will ensure they have every resource necessary to do their jobs. Second I will work tirelessly to prepare Anoka for future generations. That includes looking at development projects that enhance our town and prepare our city for future generations. Lastly I will work hard to protect our history and ensure that Anoka's unique identity is preserved for decades.
Public safety is my number one priority. I want to make sure our neighborhoods are protected. I will work closely with the police and fire departments to ensure they have the resources they need to protect our city.

I have been on the council for 4 years, am a past park board member, but more importantly, I am just a citizen that has been engaged and paying attention to Anoka for a long time. Most citizens don’t have the time to get into the weeds of city government but they want someone they know, they can trust to explain issues to them and advocate on their behalf.

My motivation to run for council this time is the same as when I ran 4 years ago, I think the viewpoints of the council should represent the citizens that they serve and should engage with the community to try to understand what they want out of their city. I have demonstrated I work hard to listen, respond and engage with citizens and provide and alternative viewpoint to many issues.
#1 A vibrant local small business community. The city's role in creating more activities and working with businesses like our local brewery grow are key to a vibrant and successful Anoka.

#2 Well maintained roads, trails and parks. We have some wonderful amenities but the city is falling behind on keeping up.

#3 A responsive government that uses it resources wisely. Listening and engaging with citizens is key. We should focus on proactive speeding enforcement and not banning sidewalk chalk.
Having a safe and welcoming city is important to me. I will continue to support our police and fire folks by providing them the resources and training they need. They are out there proactively breaking down barriers in the community while enforcing the rule of law. Both are important to keeping us safe. But public safety is more than that. It is adequate street lighting, well maintained roads, and connecting neighbors with each other. The more we watch out for each other the safer we all are.
