Guns are our most intractable neighborhood issue. We lost multiple neighbors to shootings in the past few years. I support Ward 6 Councilmember Charles Allen's "Both / And" approach to crime where we must apply both traditional and new approaches to public safety instead of creating a false choice between one or the other. This includes violence interrupters, mutual aid, and national gun control advocacy.

I would continue our ANC 6A public safety walks where we bring together neighbors, constituent services offices, and police to address every possible solution to guns. I would also continue ANC 6A funding to Ward 6 Mutual Aid and our partnerships with nonprofits such as HIPS, a harm reduction hub for sex workers, and the Way Home Campaign to end chronic homelessness in DC. Finally, I also plan to continue ANC 6A's citywide advocacy on issues such as passing the data-driven recommendations of the DC Police Reform Commission.
ANC 6A and I look forward to continuing our outreach that leaves no neighbor behind. This includes door-knocking, tabling at the farmers market, Google Groups, anc6a.org, print advertisements in the Hill Rag, social media, and creative approaches such as using sidewalk chalk.
