Is there a question you wish we had asked? If so, what is the question and how would you answer it?

The most important collective issue facing our Single Member District is pubic safety and crime prevention. As Ward 8C04 Commissioner, I will address this by continuing to network with community stakeholders and expand opportunities for our youth and other family members to be off the street while learning and implementing new skill sets.
I am very skilled per engaging with residents as my approach centers around reaching those who are unfamiliar with the role and value of ANCs. It is those who are uninformed that we must first seek to strengthen per the importance of sharing community needs and concerns so that we can work together to advocate for those who may not know how to advocate for themselves and bring about better outcomes for all.
I would like to have been asked why I am the right candidate for the position...I am the right candidate for the position because I am truly putting in the footwork in day in and day out effecting change in my community. I put my all into my neighbors, our scholars, and our common spaces. I have made it my mission to help others cultivate life where we have experienced so much loss.

Qualifications I have lived in DC since 1978, when I came here to attend the University of the District of Columbia. I later transferred to Howard University and graduated in 1983 with a BA in journalism. I served 10 terms (1993 to 2013) as advisory neighborhood commissioner 1A10 in Ward 1.
While campaigning door-to-door, my neighbors repeatedly told me that violent crime--especially gun crimes--is the most important issue facing all us. As ANC, I will lobby the City Council to pass tougher laws to drastically reduce crime. I will advocate for a death penalty for most killings. I will advocate for more juvenile criminals to be tried as adults, and I will advocate for tougher juvenile sentencing. I will also push for elected judges and prosecutors for DC.
I will stay engaged with residents by weekly touring every street in my district and by distributing door-to-door periodic newsletters showing my work on the ANC and with local and federal government entities.
