Buffalo City Mayor

The role of city mayor can vary from city to city. However, the mayor is usually the head of the city and may represent the city in front of other government bodies. A mayor also usually has a role in proposing a city budget that is approved by the city council. The budget influences the services the city provides to its residents. Mayors sometimes are voting members of city council, and in some cities the mayor is in charge of city council meetings.

My desire to see Buffalo and its' citizens succeed are what drive me. This town has been built by people seeking a bit of small town America and I want to preserve that they came for. I've talked to over 300 people in the last 6 months of campaigning and I hear the same concerns; I hear that taxes are high, I hear that utilties costs are high, I hear that their teenagers don't have any place to go to hang out. Finally, I hear that when people talk to their local government about how the city should develop, the citizens concerns appear to come last versus what a developer wants. A balance is needed. The mayor is a public servant- I have a strong desire to serve the public. I started my campaign by cleaning up Buffalo's Veteran's park.
Priority one is ensuring that Buffalo keeps its' small town feel. Safe streets, slower pace of life, the kind of place you want to raise your kids. Priority two is to get the debt under control- Buffalo has $70M of debt, which translates to 37% of the budget. High debt means that we can't take advantage of opportunities which might arise for us. Third would be opening up local government- start finding ways to have the government reach out to the public and show that it can be trusted and that t
I've already started with that- early in my campaign I talked to citizens on 17th St South about speeding on their local residential road. Shortly after highlighting a problem which has been present for over 10 years, the city took action. Speeding is a major issue for many residents- something that makes roads less safe to cross and for children to play around. Teenagers need a place in summer to hang out other than the Walmart parking lot- and easy solution might be keeping parks open later.
