I am the best candidate for Emily Council because of my unique blend of life experiences. -Married for 47 years with one daughter. (My wife passed away 3 years ago) -Three-year US Army Veteran (Information Specialist) Served 13 months overseas in Korea. Active VFW member. - Attended night school at North Iowa Community College, Iowa State University and Mankato State while working as a production welder. -24 years Sales and R & D experience on a national level. Currently Part Time Technical Manager. (Working from home office) -About 10 years Emily Planning and Zoning mostly as chairman. -I also am able to independently look at all sides of issues to support best outcomes for all citizens -Support low taxes with responsible spending.
My top three priorities would be: -Create accurate budgets factoring in inflation and supply chain challenges while struggling to keep taxes low. -Attempt to establish a new industrial park promoting business and industry. Incorporate connecting with the City Sewer. Working together as a team with the Mayor and other council members to promote the best policies for all Emily citizens. Working with Planning and Zoning to update and clarify zoning ordinances as needed for business and residents.
Working to promote public safety -We have exceptional Police, Fire and Rescue. They and their families give up a great deal to help keep all of us safe. They deserve to have the best equipment and training that we can give them. I would support funding them to help keep us all safe. -I would support signage and striping at major intersections, as well as proper markings and segregations for ORVs and snowmobiles. -I would promote proper youth training for operating boats, ORVs and snowmobile

First and foremost, I believe in treating people with courtesy and respect. This enables us to build effective relationships while creating a productive environment. Council members are representatives for the people and stewards of their tax dollars. I am a forthright individual who is open minded, but also knows when to stand firm. Our community needs someone who is respectful and who knows how to balance: 1) citizen and business needs, with reasonable and limited governance; 2) todays’ budget needs, with tomorrow’s goals; 3) reasonable development, while sustaining the environment we all love. I 'm here to help, and I need your vote.
The first is maintaining trust and civility in dealings with the community and ourselves. Gaps in either of these will divide groups and create an unproductive environment. The second issue is balancing infrastructure needs while keeping taxes in check. We need to maintain reasonable budgets for today's needs, without sacrificing tomorrow’s plans. The third issue is maintaining reasonable and limited governance that allows our community to prosper while ensuring our environment is preserved.
While I may not have all the answers, I believe we gain a lot when we work together. Our public safety teams work hard and we need to ensure they have the tools and training they need to perform their duties. This includes supporting continued integration with local and state enforcement organizations. Increasing our coordination with other public safety organizations helps our public safety teams become more efficient, effective and better positioned to handle critical events.
