Service for others has been a driving force in my life that was instilled at a young age. Spending 34 years in law enforcement to ensure that the streets and homes in Washington county were safe and that those in need were given the support and services they deserved was an opportunity for me to serve my community while personally gaining a lot. I saw how a successful community can create peace and stability for families. My experience has taught me to step in where needed. By being elected as a Council Member I will apply my compassion for people, strong problem-solving skills and strategic thinking to help bring the city of Forest Lake to the next level. My awareness and dedication to service make me the best candidate.
First is to invest more in infrastructure to create stability and generate growth. Investing now sets us up for a stronger future to meet short-and long-term needs, ensure a successful balance of new and existing businesses to attract new residents. Second is Public safety, see below. Third-keeping the lakes healthy is imperative as it is an integral draw to new families and current residents, provides recreation for the community to enjoy and creates revenue opportunities for local businesses.
We need to trust and support our current safety systems in the police and fire departments to lead the way. It is essential that these departments are supported with the staff, equipment and training needed to carry out their life-saving responsibilities and respond to the foundational needs of the community. We need to encourage and support the development of neighborhood connections that foster trust, build relationships and create deeper community ties between residents and first responders.
