I reject the question premise that I am "the best" candidate. I believe that everyone who is running for an elected position could be "the best" for someone, & I don't believe that I am "better" than other candidates. I am different than the other candidates, & may take a different approach. My 25+ year professional career in business management & marketing gives me a unique approach towards representing the community, with experience in what it takes to run an efficient and effective organization. My ability to listen to the community and to my fellow council members and staff without being entrenched in my opinion makes me a valuable asset to our community. I'm willing to listen, and learn, before I make my vote on your behalf.
Community engagement. When a representative government fails to engage and listen to the community its supposed to govern, then the system fails. At the city level, ensuring we actively engage with the community will continue to be my #1 priority. #2, Public safety. The pursuit of an effective public safety department that treats all with members of the community with respect and compassion, and that is in return, supported by its community. #3, Water. Delivering consistent & clean water
Our strategic initiative pursues just that. Ensuring that the culture of our PS dept. values its staff members through training & support will work to ensure staffing levels meet our needs for the health & safety of the staff, & for our community. Working to continue to effectively engage community groups and partners to listen, and work together to proactively address concerns. Effectively communicate crime trends, and work to prevent issues with proactive community engagement and policing.
Residents have made an investment in this community when choosing to live here and it is important to protect that investment. I am best suited to continue to serve on City Council because since becoming a Woodbury resident thirteen years ago, I have dedicated my time and knowledge to serving Woodbury. I have the experience of serving on City Council and prior to that, I served on the Economic Development Commission, as well as chaired our 2040 Comprehensive Plan Task Force. I have taken the time to learn how our City infrastructure works and the challenges we face as the City continues to develop. My personal attributes, as a mother, an attorney, and a small business owner, allow me to understand the demands and concerns of our residents.
My top 3 priorities are our 3 strategic initiatives:

i. Implementing our permanent water treatment facility and continuing to demand treatment for the lowest feasible detectable level of PFAS in ALL of our wells in Woodbury.

ii. Building a safer community through Culture, Connections, and Crime Prevention.

iii. Analyzing our current environmental efforts and create a more focused plan that enhances our environmental stewardship within the City.
Our strategic initiative for our Public Safety Department focuses on this issue. Supporting the transition of leadership w/in the Department ensures their mission “to serve all people with compassion and courage” is upheld. Several efforts w/in the City, e.g. the Multicultural Advisory Committee, our Community Engagement & Equity Coordinator, & the mental health worker embedded w/in our response team, promotes those positive connections between City staff and residents to build trust & safety.
