For over 30 years I was employed as a social worker with St. Louis County. Many of those years were in CPS. I also have extensive experience in mental health and chemical dependency.

I am currently finishing my 12th year on the Hibbing Board.

During those 12 years we have made major investments is all of our facilities as well as added an Early Learners facility to pull the ECFE and Headstart programs under one roof.

Our district has also improved our MCA scores to where we exceed the state average, but also have higher scores than all of our neighboring districts in northeastern Minnesota.

1. Increasing mental health services to all students in our district, the trauma that many students experienced during Covid has impacted everyone to some degree.

2. Increased funding for our Career Paths program. This is an option in which students can gain first hand experience with numerous businesses in our community. It has proven to be highly successful and adding funding could allow us to expand.

3. Increased funding from the State.
Our district has invested heavily into securing our building. Updated communication systems, keyless entry, single door access during the day and improved class room security.

Our teachers have also received extensive training in on how to respond in any type of crisis. We are going to continue to ensure that are staff are well trained and informed about safety and security of all staff and students.

This school year, we have also added a second resource officer to our district.
