To be honest, I think all candidates running for Eden Prairie School Board are qualified, capable, and have the best interest of our students in mind. However, I think that my experience as a community member, educator and EP parent make me a great candidate for this position. I have a positive attitude, and I acknowledge that my experiences aren't the same as everyone else. I'm committed to listening to teachers, families, staff, and students and then giving my input to decisions that need to be made.
My top priority is ensuring the safety of our teachers and students. Confidence in school as a safe place to learn and grow is critical to academic success and plays a large role in my second goal, which is addressing the mental health crisis that has made its way from broader culture to students at all grade levels. Once teachers and students feel safe and supported, we must work to keep our outstanding teachers in Eden Prairie by making sure they feel heard and valued.
Safety for our students should always be a top priority. I will do whatever I can to help make sure our staff and students feel safe online and in school. A positive school culture includes students, staff and families who are all engaged and actively committed to safety. Our teachers are with these students every day and have their finger on the pulse of what's happening. Their input would be invaluable in making decisions that help us move forward safely.

I'm a current director on the Eden Prairie and ID 287 school boards; an experienced teacher in Special & General Education, a PTO Mom of three EP eagles KG - HS. I know what teachers need to be the best educators possible, what students need to thrive, and what families need to best support their students. If re-elected, I will keep working to ensure each student has opportunites to thrive, to bring everyone to the table, and to serve our district with committment, as demonstrated by the years I spent in the Army ROTC learning leadership excellence & to lead in stressful circumstance, or as a Girl Scout troop leader, helping young ladies tap into the well of innate talents & abilities each person has within.
1. Rigorously monitoring the district as the Policy Governence model, and board policy, require

2. Ensuring each student and staff member can enter our schools as their full authentic selves and be treated respectfully, ad with kindness.

3. Bringing everyone to the table. When we come together across our different income, racial and ability groups, we make diversity our superpower, making our district stronger and Eden Prairie a place our kids will be proud to call home.
Through policies that support the district continuing to meet and exceeding state and national safety standards; through staff building connections with each student so they know someone at school cares about them; through supporting continued expansion of mental health supports so more students can connect with care; and supporting the district's efforts to build community connections with, and parent involvement in our school.
