I believe in advocating for all the children in our community to meet their educational needs. I believe for the school board to be successful it must collaboratively work with the administration, staff, and parents to make informed decisions that meet the goals of our district. Throughout my career, I’ve led committees performing similar duties to the school board such as reviewing and approving budgets and reviewing and approving policies. I am not afraid to ask questions to understand an issue better. I welcome hearing input from the community on opportunities for improvement. We have a great school district and I hope to be part of its future.
1. Understand the goals of the district to determine how we can fiscally & ethically meet those goals and develop a continued long-term vision for the district. 2. Increased communication on significant issues, decisions, & purchases ensuring transparency between the school board, administration, staff, & parents. 3. Continuing to build upon each student’s educational experience to ensure we are enhancing & enriching their experience & preparing them for future opportunities and challenges.
Make sure there are policies and procedures in place to consistently handle safety topics, & that they are understood by staff and students (and when necessary, practiced in case of an emergency). Create open lines of communication between staff and parents to allow proper reporting and solve safety issues. Our teachers, students, and parents all have varying perspectives, and all their voices should be heard to solve and provide the safest educational experience for the students and staff.

I am the best candidate to represent the Houston parents and children of the Houston School district for a variety of reasons. When my children were in Head Start, I volunteered to be a parent representative for our district to approve policies, changes, and hiring of staff. I want to advocate for the children of our community by ensuring that decisions being made reflect the best interest of the students I serve. Being the best candidate to me means representing our community and their needs versus the staff and their wants. It also means being the voice for those parents who have ideas and opinions and make them be heard while fighting for equality and inclusivity within our district.
If elected, my top three priorities will be to emphasize a caring and inclusive school environment, collaborate with the community and listen to their needs and wants of our school, and to have a role in improving our school system where children are expected to perform well academically, socially, and emotionally. Ensuring that a child feels that the school they attend is caring and inclusive while being a safe place is very important to me. I want to be the voice for the parents to help facili
I will work with staff and teachers to promote safety in our schools by communicating with staff, teachers, and our community. I will work with staff to make sure that safety policies and procedures are in place and followed by students and staff to ensure all children are safe and respected. When communicating with staff, parents and fellow board members I plan to keep an open mind while always making decisions that are in the best interest of all students.
