Central Bucks School District School Director Region 4

4 YR TERM. A school board is a legislative body of citizens called school directors, who are elected locally by their fellow citizens and who serve as the governing body of each public school district. Each board consists of nine members who serve four-year terms of office. Unlike most other elected officials, school directors receive no compensation for their work. Principal duties include appointing and/or dismissing superintendents, principals and teachers; levying school taxes; purchasing land; locating new buildings; adopting textbooks and courses of study; fixing salaries of teachers and other appointees of the Board.

Experience 19 years in IT/Marketing - Programmer to AVP (Insurance/Financial Services); Special Olympics Bucks County – Executive Board, Softball/Volleyball Coach; 11 yrs – Engaged CBSD Schools Parent Volunteer

CBSD provides outstanding academics. We must also address the social and emotional needs of every student to equip them to be successful & contributing members of their community. In addition, we need to strengthen services for students with special needs to enable them to realize their full potential.

As a School Director, I will advocate for the needs of all students. As a community, we must model respect, acceptance, and civility to our children. Our School Board Directors should exemplify bipartisanship and focus on the primary goal of looking after the best interests of all students, families, and community members. I will listen with an open mind, leverage subject matter experts, and work respectfully with all stakeholders.

It has been a difficult year for our district. Communicating clearly with students, teachers, parents and taxpayers is critical to the success of CBSD. I will communicate with clarity and advocate for transparency in decision making & financial matters.
I am passionate about making our CBSD Schools the best they can be for students and families. I am informed, engaged, and involved as a parent volunteer in many building-wide, region-wide and district-wide initiatives: Rep. on Superintendent/Parent Advisory Council (Tamanend), Home & School President (Barclay), Race For Education Chair & Team Member (Barclay), Rep. on Elementary Progress Report Redesign Effort (district-wide).

I was instrumental in raising close to $200K for HSA activities, Gaga Pit, recess equipment, field trips, and other resources for school (Barclay).

I have a proven track record of working effectively & respectfully with others to build consensus and get things done on both profession and community projects. The Project Management, leadership, problem solving and other skills acquired over the course of my career are directly applicable to serving as an effective School Board Director.
Our schools should provide a safe, accepting, inclusive and supportive environment for all students, as reflected on our Central Bucks School District Belief Statement. Children are given the best opportunity to thrive both academically and socially when they feel respected, valued, and welcomed. After all, our country was founded to celebrate our diversity of religion, thought, customs, personal identity, etc.

We are fortunate to employ many highly qualified and dedicated education professionals who strive to continually learn and leverage research-based techniques that enable their students to succeed in CBSD and beyond. Providing teachers and staff with professional development opportunities related to DEI is an important step toward achieving CBSD’s mission “to provide all students with the academic and problem-solving skills essential for personal development, responsible citizenship, and life long learning.”
One of the primary responsibilities of our district is to ensure the safety of every person in our school community. I am not a medical professional! Therefore, I rely on guidance of trusted medical resources (CDC, AAP, PA DOH, BCHD) to assess the current landscape and make recommendations that enable us to KEEP STUDENTS AND STAFF SAFE TO KEEP SCHOOLS OPEN! Our kids need schools to remain open in person for their academic, mental, and social well-being. Our plan should: align with recommendations of medical experts, contain objective metrics for adopting/relaxing mitigation measures, and be fluid to adjust mitigation as conditions change. I would also like to explore the free optional testing offered by the State of PA.

Addressing safety and mitigation associated with COVID must be considered a public health rather than a political issue. As adults and leaders, we need to work together to be proactive in protecting our community members.
