Palisades School District School Director Region 3

4 YR TERM. A school board is a legislative body of citizens called school directors, who are elected locally by their fellow citizens and who serve as the governing body of each public school district. Each board consists of nine members who serve four-year terms of office. Unlike most other elected officials, school directors receive no compensation for their work. Principal duties include appointing and/or dismissing superintendents, principals and teachers; levying school taxes; purchasing land; locating new buildings; adopting textbooks and courses of study; fixing salaries of teachers and other appointees of the Board.

I wanted to run for school board when the Covid-19 crisis hit, which has impacted everyone, including our children, parents, and senior residents. It has taken a toll on many of us physically, mentally, and financially. I want to work collaboratively with the board and administration as we recover and get back to normalcy. Bullying advocacy and communication are important to me. Having a son in the district, I know first hand what is happening. I want Palisades to be a safe place for all our children to learn no matter what color, gender, or disability they may have.
Being one of the youngest candidates to run and a mom to a child in the district, I am well qualified. I understand first hand how current issues affect our parents, students, and community. My family participates in many community and school activities. I am highly personable, which has helped me a great deal. I have been hearing and considering the many differing perspectives and concerns brought to me in recent months. This feedback is essential. Coming from a generation that is well known for sticking up for what they believe in, I feel I can be a new voice for our district. I will advocate for all children in the district and continue to be a positive community member. From talking with our senior community about why they are proud to live in Springfield Township, to cheering on our Palisades Pirates at a Friday night football game, to supporting the middle and high schools in their amazing theater programs, and to supporting our local girls scouts...I love it all.

I earnestly strive to live by conservative values. I believe in the U.S. Constitution and the great history of our nation, and I believe our youth need to be taught factual history from a non partisan perspective. I believe in free thinking – these truths will be self evident! Allow students come to their own well-thought-out conclusions about life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness!! As School Director, I will do all I can to lead our district forward through the challenges of the educational losses brought on by the covid pandemic. Allowing our families and teachers to have a choice in educational programming while ensuring our children and staff have a safe learning environment is imperative for a successful K-12 program.
Experience has taught me to 'listen' - I believe listening is an activity that few people learn how to do well. I want to listen to the needs, process those ideas and needs, and do all I can to bring about what is needed to keep Palisades curriculum strong. Solid curriculum is paramount to solid education. I believe our youth should be taught to seek out truths, beyond what is 'fed' to them. Education should never be about propaganda - it should be teaching the future generations of our country how to read, research and think for themselves. To come to their own educated conclusions on all facets of life. We have a gift to give them - the gift of learning. We cannot abuse that!!
