 Municipal QuestionShall the Borough of Somerville be authorized to amend the Length of Service Awards Program for the volunteer firefighters of the Somerville Fire Department and the volunteer members of the Somerville First Aid and Rescue Squad serving the Borough of Somerville pursuant to the following terms and conditions: 1. The program shall be amended to provide annual contributions to a deferred income account for each active volunteer member who meets the eligibility criteria in accordance with the schedules adopted by the Borough of Somerville. 2. The annual contribution for an eligible volunteer that meets the criteria to $1,150 for service year of 2020. 3. The annual contribution shall be adjusted annually in accordance with the Consumer Price Index (CPI). 4. The estimated cost of the program shall remain the same at $60,000 per year. Explanatory Statement The Borough of Somerville offers a Length of Service Awards Program (LOSAP) for members of the volunteer firefighters of the Somerville Fire Department and volunteer members of the Somerville First Aid and Rescue Squad. Each eligible volunteer will receive $1,150 effective for service year 2020 and the amount shall be adjusted annually in accordance with the Consumer Price Index (CPI). REASON TO VOTE YESA vote of "YES" would allow the Borough Council to amend the Length of Service Awards Program for the volunteer firefighters of the Somervile Fire Department and the volunteer members of the Somerville First Aid and Rescue Squad. REASON TO VOTE NOA vote of "NO" would tell the Borough Council that you do not want the Length of Service Awards Program for the volunteer firefighters of the Somervile Fire Department and the volunteer members of the Somerville First Aid and Rescue Squad amended.
