Quakertown Community School District School Director Region 1 (4 YR TERM) {_getChooseLabel(this.selections.length)}

A school board is a legislative body of citizens called school directors, who are elected locally by their fellow citizens and who serve as the governing body of each public school district. Each board consists of nine members who serve four-year terms of office. Unlike most other elected officials, school directors receive no compensation for their work. Principal duties include appointing and/or dismissing superintendents, principals and teachers; levying school taxes; purchasing land; locating new buildings; adopting textbooks and courses of study; fixing salaries of teachers and other appointees of the Board.

I am running for three main reasons: Our Kids. Our Taxes. Our Future.

With every decision that comes before me as a school board member, I will answer two questions: 1. Is it in the best interest of our students? 2. Is it an efficient use of local tax dollars? I approach decisions with a level head and have the ability to compromise with sound rational thinking. I will use these skill along with my financial analysis background to service our students and community.
I am running for this office because I believe I offer a unique and valuable perspective. My wife and I have been members of the Quakertown community for the past fourteen years. We have two great kids that currently attend Richland Elementary School; our son is in fifth grade and our daughter is a first grader. As a parent, I want my children to receive the best possible educational experience. Our children’s education is priceless, and they deserve the best we can provide. My background is in accounting and I am a regional controller for Georgia Pacific. I am responsible for managing the budgets of eight plants worth over a billion dollars in revenue and I engage with people from all different backgrounds to brainstorm and solve problems. I understand the value of being fiscally responsible and if elected, I will work with the Board of Directors and QCSD Administration to reach a balanced budget that meets the students’ needs and keeps the taxpayers in mind. Finally, my wife.

Getting our students back to school back to school full time in the fall is essential. Learning at all grade levels has fallen off significantly when]re students have been unable to interact with their teachers in a face-to-face learning environment. And lost time due to excessive cleaning and additional mitigation measures has prevented teachers from performing their most important task - educating our children. Many students have been asked to learn large portions of lessons on their own. Leadership is required in the fall to assure all stake holders in the community that we can open at full capacity and still address reasonable concerns surrounding safety. Leadership is required to review and approve alterations proposed to methods of learning that are now undergoing a new shift in both live and virtual education to ensure our students can regain their level of excellence.
I have been privileged to serve as a School Director in the Quakertown Community School District (QCSD) since August of 2014. During that entire duration I have also serves as the QCSD representative to the Bucks County Intermediate Unit. I have served on multiple committees, successfully negotiated several staffing contracts, and reviewed/approved ever increasing budgets in an effort to minimize tax increases while still providing superior education for our students. I have met with each of our local State representatives, our Congressman to Washington, and three (3) governors of our State. I am the longest serving Board member. I believe my experience sets me apart from all of the other candidates, and I believe this experience is an asset to the Quakertown Community School District.
The District completed and approved a new Comprehensive Plan during the past year/ Issues of DEI are addressed therein. The key will be to monitor the implementation of such programs and evaluate their effectiveness.
Our current Health & Safety Plan has been crafted to meet all requirements of the current Commonwealth DOH Order. It requires mask wearing within all school facilities, yet provides for reasonable exceptions. I am fully satisfied with what our District has offered to our community.
