Jackson County Fire District 3 Position 4

Special districts in Oregon are formed to govern specific resources. Examples are people’s utility districts, library districts, sewer districts, irrigation districts, ports and cemetery districts. Some districts get revenue only from taxes. Others, such as water districts, get revenue from ratepayers. Others may combine the two sources. Each district is governed by a board of directors which is responsible for the operation of the district and its financial accountability. ( https://www.oregonlaws.org/ors/198.010 ) Qualifications: Candidate must be a registered voter or an landowner in the district. If the district has a supporting ordinance, employees of the district are not eligible. Town Where You Live Eagle Point
Your Experience/Qualificatons 4 years on the Jackson County Fire District #3 board< 3 different church boards, Crater Lake Academy board, and 34 years a firefighter for Medford Fire Rescue.
County Jackson
Term 4 years
The fire district is already diligently seeking avenues to communicate with the communities of White City, Eagle Point, Gold Hill and Central Point as well as their surrounding rural areas. They are very active in media releases, teaching in schools, online outreach, and face to face interaction anytime a member of the department meets the public. I cannot improve on the work they are doing, only support it.
34 years a Firefighter retiring as Captain at Medford Fire Rescue and a member of Eagle Point Community for 37 years. I have served on 3 church boards, the Crater Lake Academy board, and the Jackson County Fire District #3 board for the last 4 years.
Jackson County Fire District #3 is the most progressive fire department I have known. They have developed Fire Safe Communities in our wildland areas. They have innovated a Community Care Response Team that provides emergency medical response but also goes far beyond that to connect patients with agencies and organizations that synergistically improve their homes and lives and welfare. They are leaders in the Jackson County fire service community to improve medical response and upgrade communication infrastructure. They are active in the state fire service community making improvements statewide. They have invested heavily in analytical programming to track and quantify prevention, suppression, and community outreach efforts to improve service to the communities. This is just the short list that I can remember off the top of my head. I am both honored and proud to be a supporter of their efforts.
