Return to normal life immediately! We should have never shut down our country or our schools to begin with. Remove the teachers' unions and pursue local control through charter avenues. (Provide more accountability to the public for how a school board member votes on issues.)
The answer to this question is found in the benefits of what charter grants to the tax payers, you and me. Until we all completely separate from the "swamp," we the parents will never see the change we so desperately desire. Like we have heard before, the definition of insanity is when we keep doing the same thing over and over again but keep getting the same results when we expect change. In short, we' must stop re-electing the same old 'swamp creators' back on to school boards that keep screwing over the tax payers, again and again. When are we going to learn? Year after year, school boards are stuffed with the same old fuddy-duddies' that are in charge of voting themselves increases every year. Only until we drain the swamp and elect tax payers to these positions, will we see lasting change. Elect me! Take back control. Go CHARTER...NOW!!
As far as I know, not one public employee has gone without a pay-check since this epidemic has begun, whether or not they have worked or not. Yet we see in Oregon the overall impact on business after business having been shut down in the governor's ongoing attempt to make socialists out of us all. As a result, many of us now face poverty while her account expands.

So what do we do about it? First, fire Governor Broun and every demarcate in Salem. Second, demand a property tax and rent rebate to compensate for the school closures and to make up for the money stolen by Brown that she sucked out from our 'federal stimulus checks.' Especially after Biden and Pelosi just gave them all trillions of dollars adding to our federal debt. By the way, don't you think our governor has plenty of money now to "run HER schools? Don't count on it! But one thing you can count on, elect me to the Siuslaw School Board Position 6 and I will do all I can to "Drain the Swamp!!!

Review the data for the past three years and determine strengths and disparities. Bring administrators, staff together and build an action plan to address the academic needs of the district. The plan should include specific performance goals for Administrators, Teachers and students. Resources should be allocated to provide for staff training, additional staffing, and provide additional learning opportunities as needed. Summer school, reading specialists, math specialist ,after school programs or partnerships with academic support groups such as Boys and Girls club.
Serving the patrons of the district allows for parents to have a place at the table for open conversation. Parents are respected and listened to for their ideas and perspective on issues or concerns. The district may disagree but parents are valued for their input. Board members are here to serve the citizens of our community.
It is always a challenge when talking about budgets and where to allocate funds. Schools must be safe for our students, staff and the public. We must maintain our schools and meet the educational needs of our kids. Review the data within the district to establish priorities for spending. Receive input from all stakeholders and publish your findings for spending the money.

I believe that all students should have access to fair and equitable education. Thinking outside the box will be paramount in moving forward in a post pandemic education climate. I think that this starts with supporting and educating teachers and staff, and having a clear plan and open communication with the faculty AND community moving forward.
Family involvement in schools is very important. I believe that be simply offering families a seat at the table while making decisions will be an enormous step in the right direction.
With many kids being pulled out of schools to be homeschooled or attend private schools, funding has been impacted, but at the same time, some activities, sports, etc have been cancelled and that funding maybe has not been used. I think that with transparent budget meetings, and careful consideration, we can put together a comprehensive budget that will be fair. It’s going to take hard work, but we can do it.
