I would bring a skeptical eye to the tendency to just throw money at problems. Public money needs to be spent wisely. Private business must be encouraged since it is the wealth creator that enables growth. With out growth people especially the disadvantaged and less fortunate will not be able to enjoy the benefits of our society. With the recovery money we have a good chance to right our local economic situation. Also, there is the opportunity to stabilize local government finances hopefully for the long term.
I am worried about the direction of both the County and the Nation. I do not want to see this one time money wasted. We need to concentrate on economic development and not waste time on peripheral issues. Tax money is the people's money and should be treated as such. Jobs and opportunity are our best hope for progress. People need to be confident that elected officials are acting for their best interests so they do not feel alienated from their government. Most importantly I would hope to show that all people matter even though we disagree on issues.

WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THIS MONEY IS SPENT WISELY AND WHERE IT BENEFITS ALL OF ERIE COUNTY. PUBLIC SAFETY HAS ALWAYS BEEN A PRIORITY OF MINE AND ONE THING I WOULD ASK MY FELLOW MEMBERS TO CONSIDER IS FINISHING THE EMERGENCY VEHICLE TRAFFIC PREEMPTION SYSTEM (FORMALLY RELCO SYSTEM) AS THE UPDATE IS ROUGHLY 50% COMPLETE OVER LAST 5 YEARS THROUGHOUT ERIE COUNTY, IT STILL IS NOT FINALIZED IN PARTS OF THE COUNTY AND THE CITY WHERE WE HAVE THE TWO BIGGEST HOSPITALS IN THE REGION. I KNOW IF THIS IS DONE, ERIE COUNTY WILL BE SAFER PLACE AND SAVE LIVES IN DOING SO.. ALSO I WOULD LIKE TO SEE SOME FUNDS ASSIST IN EMS AND FIRE SERVICES AS WELL AS INFRASTUCTURE TO HELP ABOLISH THE 5.00 SURCHARGE ON VEHICLE REGISTRATION.
AS MY TERM EXPIRES ON CITY COUNCIL, I BELIEVE I CAN BRING SOME GOVERNMENT AND BUDGETARY EXPERIENCE TO COUNTY COUNCIL AS WE ARE GOING THROUGH A TRASITION WITH A NEW COUNTY EXECUTIVE. I WANT TO BE AN ASSET TO ERIE COUNTY AND I WANT TO MAKE SURE WE USE THE AMERICAN RELIEF MONIES TO THE BEST OF OUR ABILITIES AND NOT WASTE IT, AS WELL BE THAT WATCHDOG ON HOW OUR TAX DOLLARS ARE BEING USED.
