My top three priorities if elected to the Haverford Township School Board are social-emotional wellness; diverse and inclusive learning environments; and, transparency. Given my professional background, I bring a unique clinician-educator perspective. I have witnessed how social-emotional wellness impacts students’ learning, and I feel that educators’ understanding this impact, can be essential with meeting the learning needs of our students. I am committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion. I am in full support of the Belonging and Sociocultural Identities in Schools (BASIS) program. I am advocate for inclusive learning environments and meeting the diverse learning needs of all students. I believe in transparency and effective communication with parents and taxpayers. I recognize that there is a responsibility to be transparent with school district policies. Most importantly, I am committed to building bridges and forming relationships that promote positive change.

If reelected, my top three priorities are: 1) to continue to support the School District of Haverford Township’s (SDHT) efforts to provide a safe and responsible transition to full-time, in-person learning across grades K-12, as the science and expert guidance allow, and to advocate for programs and services that mitigate learning loss and support students’ mental health and social-emotional well-being; 2) to help ensure that diversity, equity and inclusion are integrated across SDHT’s high-quality academic, creative, extracurricular, and athletic programs, and advocate for the hire of a full-time Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion; and 3) to continue to advocate for increased transparency and flow of information between SDHT and the Board, across the Board, and to the public.

1) Advocate for strong public schools that embrace a whole-child approach 2) Promote equity and the well-being of all students 3) Provide transparency and accountability. I will continue to support the transition to full-time, in-person learning that reflects the health and emotional needs of our students, teachers, and staff and the educational needs of our students. I deeply care about and value the importance of public school education in supporting the educational and social development of our youth. As an educator, I have designed and evaluated curriculum and appreciate the importance of balancing academic, social, and emotional learning with a range of enrichment opportunities. I am in full support of the Belonging and Sociocultural Identities in Schools program. I am trained in facilitating programs and evaluating policies through the lens of equity and inclusion. I will advocate for better communication between the school district, the school board, parents, and the community.

1.Support continued in-person learning: Parents of our youngest learners juggled family, work and school with students who cannot be left home alone, who cannot yet read or who cannot manage workloads. Many students also experienced mental health issues. Keeping students in school full-time in accordance with health guidelines is essential due to the struggles of virtual education. 2. Advocate for additional academic and mental health support: We should develop creative solutions to fill in the gaps pandemic education created as students’ academic skills have not progressed as expected. The social and emotional challenges many students faced needs to be addressed as well as we advocate for a whole-child approach to education that incorporates academics and wellness. 3. Advance efforts to help our students become global citizens: I strongly support our district’s BASIS program so students learn perspective taking and the need for every person to feel included, respected and valued.
