Qualifications for office Long history of community engagement and volunteerism. I’m currently serving my second 3-year term as the Pittsburgh American Society of Engineers Award Foundation treasurer. I'm an eagle scout and assist with my girl's scout troop. I also volunteer with my church and help with kids baseball.
Unfortunately since Westinghouse left Churchill, the borough has been in decline. House prices were stagnant for a number of years and our infrastructure is falling apart; we have an aging tree canopy without the resources needed to manage it. In short Churchill is in decline, my priority is reinvesting in our community and flipping the switch to growth. To do this we must invest and update our infrastructure: roads, storm sewer, sanitary sewers, and borough buildings. We also have to address the elephant in the room and redevelop the former Westinghouse property which is unkempt, falling apart, and was abandoned by what was once a great company. Finally, we have to invest in the education of our kids to shape a better future.
It's important to partner with Allegheny county and other local municipal governments to come up with win win solutions to problems and plan together. We are part of a larger ecosystem and it's important that we work together with our neighbors to achieve synergies in supporting our residents.
The most important part of addressing infrastructure is having an accurate assessment of current conditions and a plan for investment and improvement. We need to work on a capital improvement planning process and update it regularly so we can work with our available funds to get the most benefit for the least cost. Steps have been taken to increase our miles paved and it's important to keep up this work. We must also work with county and state officials to push their agencies to fix and improve their infrastructure in the borough like Greensburg Pike.
