I am married to my bride of 30 years Rochelle. I have two amazing kids Mikayla (23), and Kaiden (15). I have worked in construction my entire career, and recently graduated from Baker University with a Bachelors in Business Administration. I am currently attending classes to earn my Masters Degree in HealthCare Administration at Baker University. I consider myself a problem solver, and effective communicator. I enjoy spending my free time participating or watching outdoor sporting events.

I am a 1987 graduate of Seaman High School with my siblings. My father graduated from Seaman in 1964, my wife graduated in 1988, my daughter graduated in 2016, and my son will graduate in 2024. Along with many of my Aunts, Uncles, and cousins the Seaman Community is home to my family.
Great question about why anyone would want to serve at this time, but my answer to that question would be to help my community heal.
Suicide is tragic at any age, but specifically discussing youth suicide in this question, my effort would be to continue to stay engaged with our youth in every venue possible. Lead by example, and let the youth know that loss and failure are natural events. As a youth baseball coach, I have learned that consistency is the key to successful communication. Winning is nice, but loosing with grace is more valuable, and will build character for young people. Learning how to handle loss, and learning how to deal with adversity is critical in our youths education. My message would remain steadfast. Be that person someone will come to, and be that person that can impact change. Everyday has a new beginning, make today your fresh start.
I am not an expert in childhood psychology, or a licensed social worker, I am a parent with good morals, that tries hard to prepare youth for tomorrow.
Our school has several active civic engagement opportunities for our students. Having a voice heard is an important factor in our youth's growth. By allowing our youth a voice, we are actively improving their opportunities for tomorrow. The topic of how to engage youth can grow by improving civic literacy, reduce roadblocks to allow youth the opportunity to speak, and increase the opportunities for generations to interact.
I support our kids being present in class. The parents and guardians of our students have responsibilities to garner a learning environment when the students cannot be in class. COVID has affected all of our lives for the past 18 months, and I am not sure that anyone has evolved a better plan for learning than being in class. If the need arises again where we have to distance learn with our students, I would encourage and support some of the past plans in place by our district, and constantly keep apprised of how other districts are meeting challenges, and adapt as needed to meet the needs of our students.
I am elected by constituents from our district. I am elected to make decisions based upon what is best for the community. I place myself in a position of leadership, to effectively lead our community. Leaders will attribute all information gathered into their decision, and vote according to what is best for the district.
