As a newer resident of Rothsay, I would provide a different perspective to the City Council. While historical knowledge of Rothsay is always valuable, I believe the most effective governing body is made up of a variety of voices. Additionally, I have spent over 16 years of my working life with municipal and county governments, only recently moving to private employment, giving me a good understanding of how government operates. In my previous community I served on a municipal park board for a number of years to improve the quality of life for residents. I feel I could serve my community using my prior experience with local government to help guide the City of Rothsay to economic growth and increase residential satisfaction.
My top three priorities if elected to City Council would be economic development, quality of life improvements and government transparency and accessibility. Rothsay needs to continue striving for business and residential development to grow Rothsay in a responsible manner. Residents also deserve quality infrastructure, clean, accessible parks and a well maintained city. I also believe governmental transparency is essential and that all governmental functions should be accessible to everyone.
I feel Rothsay is a safe community but more can always be done. Rothsay needs to maintain good relationships with our County Sheriff's office in order to ensure the residents are receiving the services they need. Most importantly, however, we must support and fund the Rothsay Fire Department. These volunteers are the first level responders to not only fires but accidents and medical calls and it is vital that they are supported in their work to keep Rothsay and it's residents and visitors safe.
