Why are you the best candidate for this position? (750 characters)

If elected, what will your top three priorities be and why? (500 characters)

How will you work with your community to promote public safety in our neighborhoods? (500 characters)

I am a lifetime educator who spent most of my career teaching immigrants from all around the world. As the program director, I learned to inspire confidence and hope in people who were often frightened and sometimes traumatized. In that role I collaborated with local businesses, other district programs and state and federal agencies. I never let unique challenges deter me from finding a solution to problems I encountered in advocating for my students. I possess the ability to think creatively to solve problems regardless of the obstacles I might encounter. I have developed a talent for working well with others using respect and understanding. I am confident I will work effectively on the council to accomplish great things for Crosslake
1. Through collaboration with the city, residents and local businesses I will find a way to create a more robust business community that can thrive year round. 2. The creation of our National Loon Center, the resulting influx of more tourists, and new intersection controls will bring challenges that I will convert into opportunities for Crosslake 3. I will prioritize transparency regarding council decisions to create greater mutual understanding and public acceptance of those decisions.
I believe the greatest safety issue confronting Crosslake is the lack of a continuous network of sidewalks and bike paths throughout the city. I would work to implement a better system while maintaining fiscal and practical responsibility. Should increased population increase fire and police department needs, I would work within fiscal limits to address them. There has been concern expressed about the need for a more extensive medical clinic. I would like to research possibilities for that.

Crosslake is my home and I want to serve the entire community. I will bring a fresh new perspective and range of personal and professional experiences that will contribute to Crosslake. Having served on the Cold Spring (MN) City Council for 5 years I have experience in balancing budgets, hiring public safety personal, solving economic development challenges, listening to the people, and asking the tough questions. I will maintain fiscal responsibility and transparency. I will be open minded in solving problems that come before the City Council. My promise to the people and businesses of Crosslake is to be honest, serve with integrity, use my experience and knowledge to solve problems, and remain transparent.
1. Support local businesses and address the shortage of market rate homes/apartments in Crosslake – many of our local businesses have struggled with hiring recently. 2. Maintain a balanced budget and be fiscally responsible by prioritizing projects with the needs of the city and its residents while considering the current assessment policy. 3. Transparency, communication, and accountability – residents and business owners deserve the highest level of communication from its City Council.
I will ask the difficult questions and hold myself accountably to our residents and business owners. I will be available for open communication and shared ideas from all. I will make it a priority to keep residents and business owners informed. We need council members who are committed to working together for our city and will represent all residents of Crosslake. I will dedicate myself to making sure your voices are heard and represented.
