Paynesville City Mayor

The role of city mayor can vary from city to city. However, the mayor is usually the head of the city and may represent the city in front of other government bodies. A mayor also usually has a role in proposing a city budget that is approved by the city council. The budget influences the services the city provides to its residents. Mayors sometimes are voting members of city council, and in some cities the mayor is in charge of city council meetings.

Serving as mayor for the last two years has been an honor and privilege. My experience gained during that time and during my preceding years on the Council have given me the knowledge and experience to help guide the City as we move forward. I have a drive to tackle not only the immediate issues but to also look forward into the future to ensure our city is poised to support those who come after us. To grow, Paynesville needs to adapt and change to support new ideas. I have the vision and ability to make sure that we are embracing those new ideas to support our residents and bring new residents to the City.
Improving access to childcare; expanding housing; and protecting our environment.

Minnesota is in a job crunch with an excess of jobs. Wages have increased, but the opportunities are still there because of housing and childcare shortages. Improving access to housing and childcare will help bring people to Paynesville and give them access to the quality jobs we have in our city.

We need to take affirmative steps to protect our environment for future generations.
Paynesville has created a community-based Police & Fire Committee to regularly meet with the chiefs of both the police and fire departments and discuss pending issues. I have also embraced new ideas to help retain police officers hired to our city.

The data also show that access to education and job opportunities help to prevent crime. By supporting our community as a whole to address the causes of crime, we can work to better prevent crime and promote overall public safety.
