Slayton City Mayor

The role of city mayor can vary from city to city. However, the mayor is usually the head of the city and may represent the city in front of other government bodies. A mayor also usually has a role in proposing a city budget that is approved by the city council. The budget influences the services the city provides to its residents. Mayors sometimes are voting members of city council, and in some cities the mayor is in charge of city council meetings.

I’m a constructive leader in Slayton. As a business owner and a parent whose children grew up here, I’ve played a leadership roll in many community organizations from before the turn of the century. I’ve led the community to weathered multiple natural disasters for the better.

I’ve worked to assure our Fire Department and Police Department is strong and serves all the people.

I’ve steered affordable housing creation now faster then anytime this century.

I’ve facilitated 10s of millions in new commercial development in the past.
I will continue to invite developers to improve and expand services for Slayton’s residents and visitors.

The city also needs to continue its work on preventing sanitary sewer back ups during the flood events.

Much of Slayton has the benefit of quality streets. There are a number of areas where street work will be needed in the near future to continue assuring quality streets thought out the city.
Slayton continues to have little diversity, but those faces (mine included) are changing.

Facilitating for safe, appropriate, and affordable housing for all people will continue moving our city in a direction for the good of all its residents. The workers our employers need, will be able to come to Slayton, stay, and raise their families here, as I have been able.

I will continue working to assure Slayton is a “Great Place to Live” for everyone who wants to make our city their home.

I will be visible and available for the residents. Most of the people I have spoken with don't know who the current mayor (of 20 years) is.
The main street sidewalks; The most traveled streets in the community that are in great need of repair; Clean up yards that are not maintained at all

See something say something. It's an old statement, but still applicable. We don't have crime in this community, some vandalism. The Mayor and the police chief will work together on any issues that are of concern to the police department.
