Our campaign is focused on farming, education, and the economy.

Farming: This is the bedrock of our Senate District, but we’ve lost touch with our farmers. I’ll increase support for farmers and the state’s vital programs, including drought relief and access to capital. We also need more involvement from state partners, encouraging first-time farmers to get involved and helping other farmers innovate to increase production and reduce costs.

Education and the economy: Teachers and schools need resources to move education forward, for the sake of our children and for our economy. Job training programs and apprenticeships can both help in this regard.
We need to support the existing laws in Minnesota elections. Access to polling places is problematic for rural communities and so cooperation between townships, counties and the Secretary of State will assist with overcoming transportation barriers, and address issues. This also means we need to ensure that our election officials have adequate equipment and trained personnel for elections--along with this comes adequate funding too.
In the past I have strongly supported economic disparity legislation. Several of our rural communities are forgotten and along with that the disparities that exist. I would support legislation that targets technical assistance, grants, and loans for groups that are affected. MN has a great education system, however there is room for improvement since minorities experience great disparity as compared to other States.
We need to take a look at addressing the cost of fuel, goods, supplies and other essential areas for affordable living. We need focus on increasing broadband to rural areas since many of our communities, businesses, schools, students, and families are being left behind. This also affects the health care system. Minnesota needs to address the cost of fuel and inflation by working with the Federal government to reduce this issue before it gets worse. Families need good paying jobs.
We need to address this matter head on and as a public health issue. Much of the violence we see requires greater mental health resources. The recent Federal legislation starts to address this by opening funding and resources to States--to include Minnesota. I'm open to hearing other proposals but we need to address the matter meaningfully so that our communities and families are safe.
