I would be the best candidate for Ward 3 of Detroit Lakes due to my seven years of experience from being on the City Council already. I have learned many things in seven years to keep Detroit Lakes moving in the right direction. I have served on many sub-committees in that time including Public Safety, Finance, Public works, CDC, Liquor and Gambling. I currently serve as the President of the Development Authority and I am also a member of the Arena Commission as well. During these seven years I have learned many skills and one would be the ability to listen and ask for ideas or suggestions. Everyone has a different idea of what Detroit Lakes could be and I want to bring as many of those ideas to the table as I can. I appreciate it
My top three priorities is to keep a sound eye on the budget to keep Detroit Lakes affordable for everyone. Focus on our infrastructure; building and road as some assets haven't had the attention they deserve. Lastly, I would like to focus on making Detroit Lakes a business community and growing our industry but there are many factors that lay ahead of us, a few being daycare and affordable housing.
I have a great relationship with the Police department as I was on the sub-committee to build the current Police department, but there is more than just the Police to help promote public safety in town. How do we work with public works to make sure we have the correct amount of street lights in strategic locations in town to help cut down on vandalism. Drugs and crime has been very low in Detroit Lakes but we cannot always take this for granted.
