I have lived in Winsted for almost 26 years, spent 10 years as a reserve officer for the Winsted Police Department, 11 years on the park commission and 2 on the planning commission. I believe I have a good understanding of what is happening in town and what the people want.
1) Taxes, I believe the taxes in Winsted are too high in comparison with surrounding communities, I think that this is something that needs to be addressed. 2) Housing, there is a serious shortage of single family homes in Winsted and we need to see what we can do to attract new housing developments 3) Helping Businesses attract employees. I know there are business in town that are in desperate need of qualified employees and we need to see what we can do to help them.
After spending 10 years as a reserve officer, I believe I have a unique perspective on the relationship between the police and the community. I believe that we need to promote the fact that the police are not against you, they are there to help and to serve the community.
