Lauderdale City Mayor
The role of city mayor can vary from city to city. However, the mayor is usually the head of the city and may represent the city in front of other government bodies. A mayor also usually has a role in proposing a city budget that is approved by the city council. The budget influences the services the city provides to its residents. Mayors sometimes are voting members of city council, and in some cities the mayor is in charge of city council meetings.

In my three terms as Lauderdale Mayor, I have led the city in strategic investments in housing, infrastructure, and green spaces. These investments allow Lauderdale to offer high quality services with low taxes. My relationships with surrounding communities and with our legislature creates strong partnerships to support us as we invest in our future. I am passionate about community engagement and work hard to make local government accessible and transparent. I am committed to a community in which everyone has a chance to thrive.
Keeping taxes affordable while maintaining quality services, supporting a thriving and walkable business district on our main street, and continuing our work on race and equity. We have worked hard to protect the woods in our Lauderdale Nature Area from development, and we are invested in climate resiliency.
I have partnered with our St. Anthony Police in their work on mission driven, community oriented policing. I also work with our legislature to advance policies that reduce crime that affects our city. Theft of catalytic converters can be reduced by making them harder to resell, for instance. On a personal note, I am married to a St. Paul police officer who received a Bush Fellowship for his work on best 21st century policing practices.
With a great desire to serve my community, I believe that I'm the best candidate for this position because I'm personally aware of the needs that reside here. I also have a diverse background in leadership, that includes government & public service which has helped build my skills immensely. As mayor my duties are my priority & that means undertaking the issues that are important to my constituents while doing what is necessary. Likewise, this position requires a genuine & transparent role of leadership. This community needs an avid listener, one that will provide practical solutions & ultimately honor the voices of our residents. I'm looking forward to bringing a unique spark to Lauderdale & becoming the model of leadership they deserve.
If elected my primary focus will be to improve our commitment to public safety, solidarity, & senior advocacy. I know the challenges that are impacting public safety & will place that in the forefront to increase safer community engagement. Secondly, I plan to increase engaging activities & involvement to increase community relationships that have been impacted in recent years. Lastly, continue to ensure & address the needs of our senior residents to increase their access to resources & support.
In order to address & promote public safety our aim will be to educate by raising full awareness. This will be accomplished by developing the proper protocol & practice required & deemed lawful to alleviate any doubts of insecurity in our neighborhood. This includes facilitating the alliance with our local government & law enforcement to protect & ensure the safety of our citizens. I also plan to advocate for proper infrastructure & lighting as a key aspect of my focus for public safety as well.
