My experience and skills help make me the best candidate for Grand Rapids City Council. I chair the city Planning Commission. I helped rewrite the city's comprehensive plan and update the zoning ordinance. That gives us the foundation to grow on. Now we need to pay for the improvements in housing and infrastructure. My experience in running organizations, and being accountable for them, will guide me and give me the strength to hang on and hang in there. I may not have the answer now, but I work with others to find the right way. I won't give up. That makes me the best candidate for city council.
My top three priorities are: 1. Paying attention to the city's work, and understanding what goes into doing that work. 2. Listening to city staff, other council members, and most importantly, city residents, about how to manage the city's work and to do my best to respond to what I hear. 3. Making decisions that take into account how to pay for it, and does not burden the city's residents.
1. Be a responsible and responsive manager of the city's work in public safety. 2. Seek solutions to public safety that recognize that safety includes personal and community well-being.
