Información Biográfica

What is the most important issue facing your Single Member District and how do you intend to address it?

How will you engage with residents to be an effective Commissioner, especially reaching those who are unfamiliar with the role and value of ANCs?

Is there a question you wish we had asked? If so, what is the question and how would you answer it?

Qualifications DC Resident, BA/Master's Degrees, CPA
Public safety and the sharing of public space and public resources generate the most conversation and conflicts. The efficient delivery of city services is another concern. One problem is that we are a border community located across the street from Silver Spring and on the edge of Rock Creek Park, so we sometimes have jurisdictional issues with three entities. For public safety, I would like our SMD to be less attractive to criminals. I will work for cooperation between the community and law enforcement in both Montgomery County and the District. I will also work with the District and Montgomery County governments on Vision Zero and other traffic control measures. To encourage consensus around the sharing of public resources, I will invite respectful dialogue to provide solutions that benefit as many as possible. I will advocate for the efficient and prompt delivery of city services commensurate with the needs of taxpayers.
I will use the resources of the Council member and the DC government to educate constituents on how DC government really works because it is different from any other government in the US. I will try to secure internet connectivity for all constituents for communication and telehealth. I will have an email, website, and telephone number where constituents can leave their concerns, and I will hold monthly SMD meetings, virtually and in-person. I would like to emphasize what city agencies to contact and how residents can advocate for themselves and their community. I would like to get away from the constituent services model of ANC and concentrate on making city government work efficiently so that residents' legitimate service requests will not require special intervention to be addressed. Finally, I will sponsor periodic Braver Angels debates where we can discuss matters of concern with respect and dignity to derive solutions.
What are the challenges and opportunities of your Single Member District? As I said before cross-jurisdictional boundaries can be a burden for our SMD, but it also gives us an opportunity to work with other jurisdictions to obtain solutions that will benefit my constituents and residents outside our Single Member District. Thank you.

I will engage with residents to be an effective Commissioner by having monthly information exchange events both in person and virtually (to include meet & greets, covered dishes (potlucks), tea parties, picnics, BBQs, social events and training events as well). These events will allow residents to share information, receive updates and learn who I am as an ANC to support their needs, cares and concerns. I will also continue to have the Annual Block Party and Fall Harvest event I started in 2021 which includes the DC Government Agencies to be engaged with our community events. I will work with residents in 4A01 to re-establish the neighborhood watch program and partner with the Metropolitan Police Department Fourth District (MPD 4D) . I will encourage and empower residents to utilize the Office of Unified Communications (OUC) 9-1-1 and 3-1-1 city-wide services to report cares and concerns in their neighborhoods. As a follow on, I will continue to work with the DC and Federal Gov
