I believe that as the People’s Lawyer, it is my job to help Minnesotans afford their lives and live with dignity, safety, and respect. That is why, as AG, I expanded the office’s strong tradition of consumer protection. I fought to lower drug prices, fought wage theft, hold opioid companies accountable for the opioid epidemic, and much more. I am running to continue to protect Minnesotans and build on all we already have accomplished this past 4 years to deliver for Minnesotans.
- Creating Public Safety and a Fair Criminal Justice System - Continuing to support County Attorneys to protect Minnesotans against violent crime, fraud, and abuse, to keep our communities safe. - Fight for a fair economy by protecting Minnesotans from fraud, deception, and antitrust practices - Protect the rights of Minnesotans to live with safety, dignity, and respect - Access to safe and legal reproductive health care is a human right and an issue that affects people of every gender.
I am committed to protecting and expanding Minnesotans’ right to vote and the integrity of our elections. MN has consistently been ranked #1 in turnout in the country, we must continue to work hard to not only to preserve that but to expand it to those who have been marginalized. I worked with the Sec of State to ensure every eligible voter in MN had equal & fair access to the ballot box, & I put out clear guidance for all voters about our rights to vote safely and without intimidation.
I have spoken up against hate crimes against Asian Americans, Muslims, and people of all backgrounds & led a statewide tour to reduce divisions in MN. I believe that this work is critical as we see the GOP double down on their hateful agenda & sow fear as they push for policies that violate the civil rights of those they disagree with. We combat this by offering an alternative, inclusive vision of MN where everybody counts, everybody matters, & where we do better when we all work together.
As AG, I have led our state by starting our first-ever prosecutor-initiated expungement program to relieve former offenders of navigating a complex and expensive process. We have received more than 2,500 applications and have helped close to 200 people get their lives back on track. I also started a first-ever Conviction Review Unit to review the convictions of people who may in fact be innocent, because the only people who benefit from a wrongful conviction are the actual perpetrators.
