How would you ensure election laws do not create barriers to Minnesotans’ freedom to vote while also ensuring safe and secure elections? (500 characters)

What do you see as the biggest challenges to mental health and social services in your county, and how would you address them? (500 characters)

If there were to be budget cuts during your term, what are the most essential county services that you would advocate to preserve? (500 characters)

1. Increase Public Safety, because our quality of life is predicated on feeling comfortable and safe in our own homes and neighborhoods 2. Increase wage equality within Anoka County Employee ranks, because to retain and attract the best employees in this challenging workforce environment, we must have the highest employee morale and productivity. 3. Infrastructure Advancement. Maintaining and advancing our public infrastructure is the cheapest for the taxpayer in the long run. Deferred maintenance and delayed investment is too expensive to tolerate.
I would continue to operate the four senior housing projects that the Anoka County HRA currently operates to keep rents affordable for our seniors. I will keep property taxes to one of the lowest in the Metro area to keep homeownership more affordable. I will work with the local non-profit sector advance legislation to facilitate and maintain home reinvestment programs to reduce gentrification.
I will work with our award winning staff at Anoka County Elections to continue one of the most efficient and honest systems. We are bound by state law to implement their statutory plan and in Anoka County we take election integrity as our NUMBER ONE priority. Every vote will be counted and counted accurately and will be audited per MN Statute.
Chemical and alcohol abuse are the leading driver of our mental health crisis. Abuse exacerbates already anti-social behaviors and drives people to act how they otherwise would not. Secondly, a lack of familial support is pushing people onto government systems. As our families become less nuclear everyone has less true support in their daily lives and they tend to spin out of control. Lastly, we need to remove the stigma attached to mental health. Health is health, physical or mental.

Transparency and Accountability. The Anoka County commission is making decisions behind closed doors with no community input. We need to reinstate the public comment period in every meeting, and the commission needs a code of ethics with built in accountability. Labor. Nurses, first responders, plow drivers, and others who keep our County going are asked to do more with less each year. Our workers know what they need to do their jobs–I will listen. And I will insist on competitive pay. We must treat workers with respect and dignity: without them, our society fails. Transit. We need dedicated funding for roads and bridges so we can fix Highway 10 and 65, restore funding to Northstar Commuter Rail, and extend the line to St Cloud as intended.
Homeownership is a cornerstone of the American dream. We need to build more housing and use innovative programs to expand access. I will: Study and promote limited equity cooperative housing development Use transit oriented development to lower the overall cost of living Work to bring the Building Strong Communities program to Anoka County to increase capacity for construction and bring more people into the trades. With good paying Union jobs, people can afford to buy homes here in Anoka County
