I will take measures to be fiscally responsible by working towards reduction in administrative costs withing the office of County Attorney. A priority would include evaluating current caseloads as they pertain to the population size of the County. I feel this is the way to enhance efficiency and be cost effective in providing quality governement service. I will ensure accountability, transperancy, and visibility of County Government as well as make certain that citizens requests for information are handled quickly. I will bring focus to domestic violence cases and include victim input as it pertains to individual cases, and consider family reunifications where appropirate.
I have spent over 40 years in the practice of lawyer and own my own business. I worked on budgets while Mayor of Laprarie Minnesota, Itasca County Commissioner, Assistant Itasca County Attorney, and as Itasca County Attorney. I regularly appear in criminal court on matters that pertain to the twelve cities I currently represent as city prosecutor. I have donated years of service to Veterans by providing “Wills for Heros",
The County Attorneys office must continue to prosecute violations and make sure all alleged violations are handled fairly and efficiently. The public must be assured all that every case is important and that victims are heard. When a potential conflict of interest arises for the County Attorneys office, the case will be referred to another prosecutor not affiliated or close to Itasca County in order to ensure neutral, fair and impartial justice for all involved.
I support equal human and legal rights for all. Working with the communities in addressing issues that contribute to crime, such as poverty, lack of transportation, limited access to health care, unemployment, access to education and cultural barriers is important in finding solutions that lead to County Attorney intervention
I will work to instill a good working environment within the office of County Attorney, and be accessible to staffs needs concerns. I will reach out to both in house and private providers to provide assistance as needed to address those concerns. I will work to provide effective communication and cooperation between local city, state, county and federal law enforcement agencies in order to ensure public safety concerns are handled readily.
