BELLE PLAINE, MN 56011
I chose Belle Plaine as the city to raise my children over 20 years ago. I fell in love with the small town charm not often found in the metro area. I have dedicated my time and talents to the city in many volunteer positions; I believe in order to drive change, one needs to be actively involved and not sitting on the sidelines. I want to see our city continue to thrive by building a larger tax base that will not detract from the quiet city atmosphere we all enjoy. I believe in order to attract more businesses, we as a city need to spend money on assuring infrastructure is in place and our city is esthetically appealing. Decisions must be made mindfully to minimize the financial impact to current residents while still being progressive.
1. Foster respectful relationships with other elected officials, city staff and constituents. Effective communication is vital. 2. Support current businesses through diligent planning for the business districts, and maintaining ongoing communication. 3. Continue to grow city events/engaging residents in ways that are meaningful and build a sense of community.
Our city is largely an extremely safe community, however we are not exempt from public threats. Thus it is imperative to work closely with police, fire and ambulance services to assure appropriate access for all citizens and fostering ongoing collaboration with residents through community events. As our city grows, it is also imperative that we address safe access for pedestrians, bicyclists and those with disabilities by creating safe crossings, trails and sidewalks and increase walkability.
