All my life I have wanted to serve my country, and I was able to do that during my time in the Navy as a Nuclear Electricians Mate on board a submarine. Now I want to do that again by serving the people of Blaine. While I was serving I was also able to achieve my goal of earning a Master's degree in Criminal Justice which gave me insight into the underlying issues that are so prevalent in our criminal justice system. As a member of your City Council, I want to take all of these skills I have gathered from my life to bring civility and stability back to government and apply my lived experiences to provide a welcoming, safe, and prosperous community for the city of Blaine.
My top three priorities would be: bringing jobs to Blaine by investing in businesses and workers that will reflect the culture of our city, an intelligent use of your tax dollars by investing in solutions rather than attacking the symptom of a problem, and investing into infrastructure including sidewalks or other methods of pedestrian transportation to make our community safer. This will allow for prosperous growth without diluting the amazing culture of Blaine.
In the short term, the City Council must work with the Blaine Police Department to develop a targeted plan that will intelligently utilize limited resources to reduce crime in the most effective manner. In the long term, we must invest in programs that may not have an immediate impact but will help the community prosper. These programs would be investing heavily into education, mental health programs that operate internally and externally to the school system, and prison reentry programs.
