Coon Rapids City Mayor

The role of city mayor can vary from city to city. However, the mayor is usually the head of the city and may represent the city in front of other government bodies. A mayor also usually has a role in proposing a city budget that is approved by the city council. The budget influences the services the city provides to its residents. Mayors sometimes are voting members of city council, and in some cities the mayor is in charge of city council meetings.

I believe I've worked hard as mayor. Through involvement and commitment, I have worked to bring Coon Rapids back to the table locally and regionally. Locally, whether it’s ribbon cuttings or business visits, I show up. Business owners appreciate it, and I like to let them know how much we appreciate their investment in Coon Rapids. Regionally I am serving in my fourth year as president of the North Metro Mayors. My experience as a licensed real estate agent and broker provides a unique skill set that allows me to consider property values when considering new developments or other infrastructure changes. This background helps me find the balance between community benefits while respecting our resident's private property rights.
We have come a long way refreshing Coon Rapids Blvd but still have much to do to bring it into the 21st Century. Maintain support for public safety: providing as necessary to keep our police and fire positioned to be the best. Continue to support public infrastructure both inground and above ground. Maintaining good roads, sidewalks/trails, parks, clean water, our buildings, and more, we must continue necessary investments and improvements to maintain an excellent quality of life in Coon Rapids.
We will continue to leverage investments in our housing stock, as keeping homes maintained instills community pride which helps create a sense of ownership. We continue to encourage neighbors to get to know each other, through our annual promotion of ‘night to unite’, city meetings in the park, or any of our community events. I have been part of the group that brought the annual tree lighting, annual CRHS all-class reunion, and participate in helping with other events.
